Edit the real page,
not a layer on top of it

InPDF is a PDF viewer and editor that changes the document itself. Click any text and retype it, move an image, sign, stamp a date, redact for real. No cloud, no subscription, no watermark.

Open. Change it. Save.

No sign-in, no upload, no round trip through a website that keeps a copy of your contract.

01

Open

Drag a PDF onto the window, or make InPDF your default and double-click it. Scanned pages are offered OCR the moment they open.

02

Change it

Click text and retype it. Drag an image somewhere better. Choose a signature, a stamp or a date, then click where it goes. Everything is undoable, page operations included.

03

Save

Your edits are written as real page content, so they print, search and copy like text that was always there. Your original is never written to until you say so.

See It Working

Captured from the application itself, on a document invented for the purpose.

InPDF's main window: a page thumbnail rail down the left, the document in the middle, and the properties and history rail on the right.
Thumbnails left, properties right, the document in the middle. Both rails are draggable, and every tool in the toolbar is available immediately - nothing is behind a paywall or a page limit.
A word in the document opened for editing, with the right-hand panel showing the font it was, the font it will be, its size, and its colour.
Click a word and retype it. The panel tells you what the original font was, and lets you change font, weight, size, colour and alignment while the text is still open, so you can match the page or deliberately stand out from it.
The signature block of an agreement, with a handwritten signature placed on the line, today's date beside it, and highlights and notes listed in the left panel.
A saved signature, a one-click date, and markup that says what it marks. Every comment is listed with its page and line number and the words it actually covers, and the same list exports as a text file for review sign-off.

Everything a PDF Needs Doing To

What's Inside Each Area

Pick a category.

✓Four layouts — continuous, single page, facing, and facing continuous.
✓Night mode — inverts the page for reading in a dark room without changing the file.
✓Read mode — hides every control, with a bar that reappears when you reach for the top edge.
✓Search that stays readable — matches are ringed, never painted over, so you can read the word you searched for.
✓Thumbnails and bookmarks — jump anywhere; drag bookmarks to nest them into a hierarchy.
✓Rotate the view — straighten a sideways scan on screen without touching the document.
✓Recovery copy — a copy is kept every two minutes while you edit, in case Windows has other ideas.
✓Drag and drop — drop a PDF anywhere on the window to open it.
✓Edit text in place — click a word, retype it, press Enter. InPDF reuses the document's own font where it can and tells you when it has to substitute one.
✓Restyle as you type — font, size, bold, italic, colour and alignment, changed while the text is still open.
✓Real page content — edits print, search and copy like the original text, not like a sticker on top of it.
✓Edit scanned words — a scanned word is pixels, so InPDF covers it in paper colour sampled from the page around it and draws yours on top.
✓Move and resize objects — drag an image or a box; hold Shift on a corner to keep its shape.
✓Rotated pages handled — replacement text follows the direction of the line it replaces instead of being forced upright.
✓Text that outgrows its space — becomes a movable box rather than being clipped or silently dropped.
✓Undo everything — including page deletions, watermarks and redaction marks, with a History panel listing what changed.
✓Signatures — draw with the mouse, type in a handwriting face, or import an image. Saved with previews, renameable.
✓Sign every page — the chosen signature stays loaded, so initialling a whole contract is one click per page.
✓One-click date — today's date in any of six formats, changeable after you have placed it.
✓Choose first, then click — pick the picture, stamp or signature, then click where it goes. Never a dialog appearing over the spot you just chose.
✓Text boxes and links — drag out a box and type; make any area clickable, to a web address or another page.
✓Watermarks and backgrounds — text or image, with opacity and rotation, reopenable later to adjust.
✓Headers, footers and page numbers — across a range, in the position and format you choose.
✓Bates numbering — sequential legal numbering with a prefix, for discovery sets.
✓Highlight, underline, strike through, squiggly — drag across text, in whatever colour you set as the default.
✓Sticky notes — leave a comment anywhere on the page.
✓Freehand pen — draw on the page; each stroke is a comment you can restyle or remove.
✓All 14 standard stamps — Approved, Draft, Confidential, Final and the rest, and the one you pick is the one you get.
✓Export comments — a text file quoting the words actually marked up, with the page and the line number on that page.
✓Flatten — bake markup into the page before sending it out, without erasing what it was marking.
✓Shapes — rectangles, ovals, lines, arrows, polygons and connected lines.
✓Measurement — distance, perimeter, area and angle, calibrated against a length you know so readings come out in real units.
✓Rotate, duplicate, delete — one page or a range, undoable like everything else.
✓Reorder — move pages up and down; your edits travel with the page they belong to.
✓Split — into single pages, into fixed-size chunks, or at page numbers you choose.
✓Combine — merge several PDFs, in the order you arrange them.
✓Extract — copy a page range into a new document, leaving the original alone.
✓Crop — trim margins across a range, by measurement or to the content.
✓Insert — a blank page, or every page from another PDF, at the point you are looking at.
✓Reduce file size — recompress images to get an oversized scan under an email limit.
✓True redaction — the content underneath is destroyed, not covered. A black rectangle over text is not redaction; the text is still in the file.
✓Find and redact — mark every occurrence of a name or a number across the whole document at once.
✓Marks stay movable — nothing is destroyed until you apply the redactions, and you are told plainly that it is permanent.
✓Password protection — one password to open the document, a separate one to change what readers may do.
✓Permission controls — allow or refuse printing, copying, editing and form filling.
✓Remove protection — from a document you can already open, when the password is only in the way.
✓Strip hidden information — metadata, attachments and scripts, before a file leaves your hands.
✓Document properties — see exactly what a PDF is carrying, including who made it and with what.
✓OCR built in — uses the recognition engine already in Windows. Nothing to download, nothing uploaded.
✓Searchable scans — recognised text is laid over the image, so a scan becomes findable and selectable.
✓Fill in forms — complete a PDF form and flatten the values so they can no longer be changed.
✓Compare two PDFs — get a report of what differs, page by page.
✓Export — to images, plain text, Word, HTML or CSV.
✓Create from images — turn a folder of photos or scans into one PDF.
✓Print — with page ranges and scaling, straight to any printer Windows knows about.
✓Save a copy — leaves the original untouched, staged so a failed save cannot corrupt what you had.

📝

Edits are page content, not annotations

Most editors add a layer above the page, which other readers may or may not honour and which never quite prints right. InPDF writes into the page itself, reusing the document's own font where it can.

📦

One installer, no dependencies

The runtime and every library ship inside it. No Python, no OCR engine to fetch, no Visual C++ redistributable. Install it and it runs.

🔍

OCR from Windows itself

Recognition uses the engine already built into Windows, so scans become searchable without a 200 MB download or a cloud round trip.

↶

Undo that covers everything

Snapshot-based, so deleting a page, applying a watermark and retyping a word all unwind the same way. A History panel shows what changed and lets you reopen it to adjust.
